a season of sabbath

Church Family,

This past Sunday, I shared that after much prayer, wise counsel, and the support of our Accountability Board, Margery and I will be stepping into a six-month sabbatical.

For those who weren’t with us, I wanted to share this update personally.

Over the past six years, it has been one of the greatest privileges of our lives to serve as your pastors. Together we’ve seen God do incredible things, and we’re grateful for every person who has been part of the story of Vibrant City Church.

A sabbatical is not a vacation. It’s an intentional season to rest, seek the Lord, invest in our family, and return spiritually, emotionally, and physically refreshed. We believe healthy ministry includes healthy rhythms, and after six years of planting and leading the church, we believe this is the right season to embrace that rhythm.

As we step away, I also want to reassure you that Vibrant City Church is in excellent hands.

Our pastoral team will continue leading the church together, each serving in the unique role God has called them to. Our Executive Pastor will continue overseeing the day-to-day operations of the church, while our pastoral team will collectively provide spiritual leadership, teaching, and shepherding under the continued oversight of our Accountability Board and Board of Directors.

This reflects who we’ve always desired to be as a church. Vibrant City Church has never been built around one personality. It has always been led by a team of faithful men and women who love Jesus, love people, and are committed to the mission God has given us.

Most importantly, Jesus remains the Head of His Church.

Our mission doesn’t pause during this season. People will continue finding Jesus. Lives will continue being changed. Ministry will continue moving forward, and I truly believe God has incredible things ahead for Vibrant City Church over the coming months.

I simply ask for your prayers for our family, for our leadership team, and for our church. Please pray that this season would accomplish exactly what God intends and that He would continue blessing Vibrant City Church in ways we’ve never experienced before.

Thank you for loving us so well. Thank you for extending grace to our family. And thank you for continuing to serve, give, invite, and believe in the mission God has entrusted to our church.

We love you deeply, and by God’s grace, we look forward to seeing you again in just a few months—refreshed, strengthened, and excited for all that God has in store.

With love,

Pastor Jonathan & Margery Talley
